2016 Data Innovation in Health & Medical Research Award

Presented to an individual or team that has developed the most innovative method of gathering, making available, processing or interpreting data in a way that advances health and medical research. This new Award is being presented for the first time in 2016.

Congratulations to Award Winner: Capital Markets CRC, Health Market Quality Team

The Health Market Quality (HMQ) R&D program of the Capital Markets CRC commenced nearly 3 years ago and covers the application of advanced data sciences to all public and private healthcare settings representing a collaboration between 10 universities and 9 private and public health organisations that touch 60% of Australia’s $150bn p.a. health spend.

The HMQ builds upon the success of CMCRC’s spin out company Lorica Health which provides dataanalytics solutions to over 90% of Australia’s private health insurers as well as a range of public health organisations.

The program focuses on improving data linkage across health, providing analytics to improve health market fairness and efficiency, and empowering and informing consumers. The CMCRC’s key core capabilities include data management, analytics and visualization intersected with medicine and health economics and informatics expertise.

In March 2016, the HMQ and Lorica Health received an Excellence in Innovation award from the CRC Association.The program is led by David Jonas who was the founding CEO of Lorica Health and has a long history in developing technology businesses and leading national technology initiatives.
