An Alliance for Discoveries in Health
What makes Research Australia unique is our broad based membership and network of alliance partners who share the common goal of advancing health and medical research. Links to our Alliances.
In addition to many of Australia’s leading medical research institutes and organisations, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, universities and academic institutions, hospitals and health services, Research Australia has attracted members from outside the research sector. Large Australian corporations, small businesses, health consumer organizations, peak industry bodies and professional services firms are giving their ‘third party’ endorsement to the promotion of health and medical research in Australia. They recognise the importance of health and medical research in generating social and economic benefits for all Australians.
Through the support of members and benefactors Research Australia is promoting awareness and providing information to the community about the value and benefits of health and medical research and encouraging greater funding and investment from all sources.
Helping shape decision-making at the highest levels
Research Australia's members provide a broad base of expertise and experience to inform decision-makers within government, industry and the community. Commissioned reports and detailed submissions to government reviews help shape policy on a wide range of health and medical research issues. Submissions to the Productivity Commission's Review on Science and Innovation focussed attention on access to capital for research and development and issues regarding clinical trial approvals.
Building partnerships and making connections
Research Australia helps researchers stay in touch with business, health charities connect with biotechs, and the community link with leading scientists. Member networking events and working groups bring together members from across Australia, reinforcing the strengths of Australia's health and medical research sector. Research Australia is part of a network which includes Research!America and Research Canada, so extending our reach internationally.
