Rebecca James
Chief Executive Officer
Rebecca James was appointed to the position of Manager, Victorian office of Research Australia in December 2005. She is currently Chief Executive Officer. She has extensive experience working within government and has advised two Federal Health Ministers on Medicare and public health. She has worked in industry as a consultant and has been a member of Boards and Advisory Committees in health services and health policy. She was the inaugural Executive Officer of the Victorian Public Health Research and Education Council in 1999, and helped to establish Neurosciences Victoria in 2000. Her academic background is in economics, public policy and management.

Eileen Whitten
Executive Assistant to Rebecca James
Eileen Whitten joined Research Australian in December 2007 in the role of Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer. She brings with her over 30 years experience in the corporate sector, television industry and an impressive skill-set. Eileen has a vast amount of expertise, complementing the Research Australia team.

David Pullar
Manager, Partnerships and Policy
David joined Research Australia in February 2008 with a background in government policy and stakeholder management. He has previously worked in policy roles both in the Australian Government and in the pharmaceutical industry, principally related to innovation and R&D. He holds Bachelors degrees in Commerce and Engineering (Environmental) from the University of Melbourne. David’s role with Research Australia is focused on developing policy positions for the organisation and growing partnerships with the health and medical research sector.

Kandy Musgrave
Events and Marketing Manager
Kandy joins us from the Australian Graduate School of Management with an extensive background in marketing, events and communications. She has a Masters Degree in Event Management and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing. Her role with Research Australia includes member marketing, communications and managing "Thank You" Day and other events.

Samantha Rust
Events and Marketing Coordinator
Samantha has a Diploma in Events Management and has worked on large and small scale, cultural and community events in the public and private sectors. Samantha also has a background as a health care worker in aged care and disability services. Her role at Research Australia involves organising member networking events, coordinating “Thank You” Day and supporting Research Australia’s marketing activities.

Jessica Gilbert
Philanthropy Project Officer
Jessica joined Research Australia in August 2007, supporting the CEO and Melbourne office. She has now moved into the Philanthropy centre. Jessica holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Sociology from Monash University and has worked as a project officer in the education and corporate sector. Jessica also has a background in naturopathy. She has been a volunteer fundraiser for a sustainable non-profit organisation and youth leader for many years.

Joanne Baxter
Philanthropy Project Administrator
Joanne Baxter joined Research Australia in March 2008, supporting the Philanthropy Centre team with administration and implementation of philanthropy projects and working groups. Joanne is currently completing a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Marketing and Psychology, and as part of her degree is undertaking one year of Industry Based Learning with Research Australia.
