Past Events
Policy Forums: "Selling health research to the government"
Recently held forums in Sydney, Adelaide and Perth identified a range of key policy related issues that we are keen to progress, particularly in relation to building the business case for future growth in research. The national policy forums aim to gain feedback from our members and supporters about important policy issues and refine our policies to deliver better health through research. It is an ideal opportunity to become involved and share
ideas and experiences, to identify the current policy environment and
develop strategies for the health and medical research sector in the
lead up to the Federal election.

Community Events

Thank you to all of those who participated in "Thank You" Day events
from 2002 to 2009. Research Australia is proud to announce that over a
million messages of thanks to researchers were received over this
period. These messages reflect the strong and heartfelt views of many
Australians and their strong commitment to Australian research as a
means of improving health. Research Australia thanks sponsors, event
organisers, volunteers, member organizations, media, researchers and
the many other supporters and participants who contributed to the
success of our campaign. We are currently working on our next public
awareness program, and urge all of our supporters to continue to support
Australian research excellence.
The prestigious Research Australia Awards will continue. Sponsorship opportunities are now available. Please download the sponsorship proposal or find out more.

Everyone benefits from health and medical research. Immunisations against childhood diseases or cervical cancer, antibiotic treatments for bacterial infection, sunscreens and lifestyle prescriptions all began with research.
Finding treatments, cures and preventions for disease takes more than the work of individual researchers; more than the collaborative effort of our universities; more than government funding. It takes a commitment from this generation to invest in the future of the next.
The future of Australia's health relies on young people.
Research Australia is looking for the 2010 National Youth Ambassador for Health Research - someone who cares about the future health of Australia to help spread the message of the importance of science and research to other young people, business and government leaders. The Research Australia National Youth Ambassador program is an essay based competition for Year 9 and 10 students with opportunities to interact with researchers and government and lead a team of like-minded young people to set priorities for research.
