Research Australia Membership
Research Australia offers all members an opportunity to contribute to improving community health by generating public support for research and a supportive environment to grow our science-based industry. We offer a framework of services that, in total, are designed to achieve our mission, which is to make health and medical research a higher national priority.
In recent years, the growing government commitment to funding health research is, we believe, in large part due to the effectiveness of advocacy programs by Research Australia. Funding of research in the medical and health sciences rose by 46 per cent over the period 2002-03 to 2004-05. In May 2006, the Federal Government announced an additional $905 million for Australian health and medical research, despite real government funding for all research and development declining by 4.3 percent over the same period.
