Greg Mullins, Head of Policy
Greg has a background in financial services, with employment experience in the community, public and private sectors and a postgraduate diploma in policy and law. His core skills are in policy analysis, governance and compliance.
Greg is an effective communicator with a proven capacity in writing submissions, board papers, policy documents, and published articles. He brings strong stakeholder management skills to the role, with the ability to draw on diverse views to achieve agreed positions. He is experienced in working with peak bodies to influence public policy. Greg is based in our Melbourne office.
Catherine joined the Research Australia team on 2 April 2012 in a newly created role as Head of Strategic Partnerships. She brings over 20 years experience operating in senior roles across the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Her extensive skill set across sales, marketing, key account management, business development and general management will be well utilized in this new position. Catherine’s strong track in biotechnology includes 8 years at Serono Australia, then a start up operation and now a world leader in recombinant DNA technology, as New Zealand Country Manager, Director of Sales & Marketing before becoming General Manager Australia/ New Zealand where she quickly developed a reputation for building from the ground up through a focus on strategic alliance. More recently in the pharmaceutical sector, she was Business Development & In-Licensing Manager at Bayer Schering Pharma where she worked to build the company’s pharmaceutical portfolio. On a personal level, she is a Rotarian who has helped raise $380,000 in conjunction with the Fred Hollows Foundation to build Vanuatu’s first dedicated eye clinic.
In her role as Head of Strategic Partnerships, Catherine will provide members with a deeper level of engagement and connection to Research Australia’s core activities and ensure that members’ needs are at the forefront of the organisation’s work.

Melissa Harris, Events & Communications Manager
Melissa began her career in a London political consultancy specialising in sub-Saharan Africa, and later as a teacher and community worker, working with refugee and migrant communities in some of the city’s most deprived areas, before moving to Sydney in 2005. She has been involved in many areas of the Australian non-profit sector as a fundraiser, grants writer, event manager and communications specialist, including  Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, Social Ventures Australia and Family Resource & Network Support (a local disability service provider in Sydney). Her role at Research Australia covers managing events such as Cook for a Cure, the Research Australia Awards, the Philanthropy Conference and managing the day to day communications of the organisation.
