Medallion Lunches

Research Australia Medallion Member lunches happen annually in Sydney and Melbourne. Open to Research Australia members at Bronze level and above, the Medallion Member Lunches aim to provide an exclusive experience for attendees. Previous guest speakers have included leading figures in business, politics, science and the international not-for-profit sector. Lunches are hosted in an intimate board room setting.

Sydney Medallion Lunch - 'Fostering Innovation' - 19 April 2012

Guest speaker for the 2012 Sydney Medallion Lunch is Dr Phillip Marzella, Chief Executive Officer, Horizon 21

Horizon 21 is an initiative of South West Victorian industry, local government and Deakin University, all united by the common desire to create a sustainable future for their community through innovative approaches to sustainable development and practices. Horizon 21 develops, manage, demonstrate and commercialise portfolio of projects that save water and energy, reduce waste and create jobs. Dr Marzella is an innovative senior manager of commercialisation in the research and development sector. He has a background in biochemistry and genetics, holding a PhD in neuropharmacology from The University of Melbourne. Prior to his current roles, Dr Marzella was Chief Operating Officer of the O’Brien Institute, Chief Executive Officer of the O’Brien Foundation, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Tissue Engineering Centre (ATEC) and Board Director of Neopec Pty Ltd. A Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Phillip has extensive experience in governance, compliance, policy development, and business and organisational reform. He is a keen innovator and proponent of latest innovative management thinking.
