$27M funding boost to malaria, cancer and immune research
Research at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute into malaria, cancer and disorders of the immune system will benefit from a $27 million boost in funding following the announcement of the latest round of Australian government funding of health and medical research.
The funding, released today by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), includes almost $1.875 million to identify new compounds to treat cancer and African sleeping sickness, a disease of the developing world caused by a parasitic infection.Â
