Sam joined Research Australia in July 2024
Sam Mills holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Auckland and has over five years of experience in government and non-government roles across Aotearoa and Australia. Recently, Sam spent three years as Senior Manager of Policy and Advocacy at Breast Cancer Network Australia, where he led the policy and advocacy efforts for the nation’s leading breast cancer consumer organization. His leadership drove successful projects, such as enhancing Australia’s cancer data quality through a national roundtable initiative, resulting in significant funding announced in 2024. Sam has additional experience in political advisory, governance, and project management having worked for both local and state government, as well as for notable non-profits such as Amnesty International. Sam has contributed to international conferences and scientific journals in areas of consumer engagement in research, health policy, and translational research.
