Media Release: Tuesday 4 October 2016

It’s time to celebrate some of Australia’s best, brightest and generous – join the prestigious 14th annual black tie event at the Research Australia Health & Medical Research Awards, to be held at 7pm on Wednesday 16 November 2016.

The Award categories span from young researchers to philanthropy, to reflect the multitude of important roles and contributions, that all come together to make Australian health and medical research a powerful force.

CEO of Research Australia, Nadia Levin, said she is thrilled to invite members of the community to come together and congratulate the hard work of these inspiring individuals.

“This is a wonderful, annual opportunity to recognise the invaluable contributions made to health and medical research by advocates and researchers from across the country.

“Research Australia would particularly like to thank all those who nominated these outstanding achievers for an Award in a year of record nominations.

This year Research Australia welcomes the inaugural Data Innovation in Health & Medical Research, which recognises this fast growing area of digital health and technologies that will fundamentally shape the way we approach our health and wellness.

“Making those final nominee decisions was extremely difficult for our Board, with so many strong applications from our thriving health and medical research community,” Levin said.

“Every single one of our nominees has committed their time, energy, efforts and passion to improving people’s lives through research, and we are eager to come together to celebrate them.”

“It is a privilege to gather together all these great minds – be they clinicians, researchers, advocates or philanthropists – and to take time out with them to appreciate their successes.

The Research Australia Health and Medical Research Awards night will be held on Wednesday 16 November 2016, from 7pm at The Westin Sydney. Tickets are available for purchase now at researchaustralia.org/events/hmr-awards.

Research Australia recognises the valuable support and generosity of the Awards’ sponsors, Griffith University and GlaxoSmithKline.
